What Is The Season?

posted by Sandra @ 16:01 PM
August 17, 2011

There are times, like now, that I have a hard time keeping up with what season this is.  Right now it’s summer and hot hot and hot.  But here at Babies Only I am trying to get ready for Fall.   You remember what Fall is, don’t you?  You know, it’s cool, cool, cool, and the trees are all turning all the beautiful colors.  Here in Texas I have to say what leaves are left will be turning colors.  Remember here we need water.  In the form of RAIN.  See how easy it is for me to get off subject.

I’m trying to get it together enough to work on the Fall baby clothes that are coming in.  They are beautiful in every way.  The colors are bright and well mixed, the designs are wonderful and fun.  It will be great.

Having said all this, guess where I was this past week?  At the market ordering for SPRING 2012.  Times like this I really have to stop and think about what I am doing or am trying to do.  What can I say, but the Spring baby clothes are so pretty.  They are full of color and will be fun to put on your baby.   I am trying to sell one season, get ready for another, and am ordering for another.  Is it any wonder that I don’t know it I am coming or going sometimes.  But I love it.  It keeps me getting up everyday.  You never know what the day will hold.

Need A Gift

posted by Sandra @ 12:12 PM
June 27, 2011

There are times that we need a gift for baby, but have no idea what to buy.  We have all been there.  But think outside of the box for a minute.  Maybe something besides clothes is the answer, yet still something that is useful, or will bring comfort to baby.   We at Babies Only are always on the look out for this kind of thing.  Maybe these suggestions will help:

Something in the plush line is always a hit and this little frog is organic.  An item that ranks high with parents.

Lambs and Ivy brings us this darling night.  We have them in other styles and colors too.

How about something that is personalized with baby’s name?  Every parent loves these gifts.

Another personalized gift that will get a lot of use.

Towels are always great and these are bamboo and colorful.  They come in different colors and with wash cloth.

Every little girl need these.  Those diaper must be covered.

Easter Baskets

posted by Sandra @ 17:28 PM
March 29, 2011

I’ve been thinking about Easter Baskets lately.  Mainly because some of our grandchildren are going to be visiting the later part of April.  And Granny is making them an Easter Basket.  It’s been awhile since I’ve had to do Easter baskets, but this is really fun now.

We can’t do candy, because they don’t eat candy.  (Now for me it is a different matter all together.)  From the time that they entered this world, they have been eating all of those foods that are good for us.  It amazes me how good they eat and what they eat.  My granddaughter is allergic to eggs, so they are out too.  Anyway, back to the baskets that I am working on.  Since candy is out I have to come up with something else.  I found some cute garden gloves for kids and maybe I’ll add a couple of garden tools and a watering can. Children love to water the flowers.  We will be planting some flowers while they are here.  My granddaughter will have a bunny in her basket.  We have these at our store:  www.babiesonlyonline.com .  I’m looking for a “special” water gun for my grandson, and of course bubbles.  All children love bubbles.  I’m just getting started, so I have to spend some time looking.  This is as much fun for me as it will be for them to get the baskets.  We will be having an Easter Egg Hunt and I think that I will put quarters in the eggs.  I decided that dollars was a little to much for my budget.

some other things that you might consider are:  books, special T-shirt, sunglasses, a hat or cap for the sun, puzzles, play jewelry, a new toy, swim toys, any type of clothes is always nice.  Just think out of the box and have a great time doing it.

Toys

posted by Sandra @ 11:51 AM
October 29, 2010

It’s about that time of the year that we begin to think of what toys for the holidays and gifts we will be purchasing for our babies and children.  Safety first should always be the most important factor when purchasing any baby products. But at this time of the year, we are  thinking toys.

Tags on toys or boxes will usually tell you what age the toy or product is geared for.  If it doesn’t or it does not say that it is safe for “age”, do not purchase this item.  All baby toys should have a tag or information on the box telling you if this product is “baby safe”.  At my store, we do not purchase any toys or products for babies that do not meet the “baby safe” requirements set by the government.  It is important to me that I provide products that are safe for my children, so itwould only be right that I purchase products that are “baby safe” for retail sale.  So, enjoy yourself (sometimes we would like to be the child again) shopping and remember to purchase “age appropriate” items.

Another Recall

posted by Sandra @ 15:21 PM
October 13, 2010

There has been another recall of baby products and toys.  When you think about this, it makes you wonder if there is anything manufactured that is safe.

I’ve been thinking about this and I have some questions and maybe you do too.  Like, when babies or children are playing with these baby products or toy, are they being supervised properly, or just doing anything that they please.  We all know that children or babies left alone can hurt themselves or others.  They don’t mean to, but they are always trying to do things that they physically are unable to do.  We have all seen toddlers trying to climb a bookcase or pull out a drawer to climb upon to reach something.   I guess what I’m trying to say is that maybe we as parents should pay more attention to what and how our children are playing and with what.  Don’t get me wrong, many times the manufacturer is at fault.  Just because a child wants something, it is not always the right thing for them to have.  Remember!!! Age appropriate!!!!

Babies Learn Through Play

posted by Shopping4GrandBabies @ 11:53 AM

Talking, singing, and playing games like peek-a-boo are fun ways to stimulate a baby’s brain, but baby toys are also an essential component of healthy brain development. Different types of toy textures for the baby to touch are beneficial, such as soft organic baby toys, and toys that make noise encourage the baby to learn how to control her hearing.

The baby’s ability to focus his vision is aided by picture books or toys composed of bold patterns in bright colors or black and white, and mobiles hung twelve to eighteen inches above the baby will amuse her as well as help her sight.  Teething toys are very important and provide comfort to parents and baby. As your baby grows and matures, it’s important to get them new playthings that continue to challenge them and foster learning. Whether the baby is splashing in the tub, cutting a tooth, or just relaxing with a cuddly stuffed friend, seeing a baby you love playing with toys is some of the most fun you’ll have together.

Are you like me, in that sometime you read something and after you finish reading this item, you ask yourself what have I just read.  We all want to protect our babies when purchasing baby clothes or other needed baby product.  I hope the following list of glossary of toxins will help you.

Safe Baby Toys

posted by Shopping4GrandBabies @ 15:07 PM
July 12, 2010

In the past, when you say soft toys, people immediately think about stuffed animals. But although stuffed animals remain popular, there are now more innovative, safe and fun plush toys that are no longer limited to stuffed animals.

Soft toys have the advantage of being lightweight with no corners or hard edges. Since infants have little coordination yet, they might fall on top of toys or drop toys on themselves. Soft toys lessen the danger that might happen. Aside from stuffed animals, other ideal baby toys you can buy are manipulative toys like plastic stacking rings and soft books with waterproof pages that are foam-filled and can even be brought to the tub while baby takes a bath.
