New from Will’beth

Will’beth has some of the most special clothes for baby boys and girls.  And they manufacture these clothes here in the USA.  Not many of these companies left.

We, here at Babies Only, think that their clothes are designed for babies, not for teenagers.  There are soft, pretty, wearable, and look like baby clothes.  Some of their little clothes are perfect for Take-Me-Home.  This is the time that you want something special and a keepsake and Will’beth gives us this.  Some of the clothing is 100% cotton, for those of you who prefer  this.

Not Pink or Blue

posted by Sandra @ 10:40 AM
September 6, 2011

Today if you have twins there are other colors that you can choose from when purchasing matching or coordinating clothes.   Pink and Blue has always been there and still is, but now, you have other choices.

The colors for all are all over the place.  Now dressing your baby is like choosing colors from your own closet.  Any color goes.  There are really no boy or girl colors.  They are putting every color on both boys and girls.  Babies Only has the perfect example in this darling romper and dress by Will’beth.  Will’beth is know for the very finest in baby clothes.  Brown was one of the colors for baby boys years back, along with blue.  But this romper has a very up-to-date look.  The little dress is so very not the usual for a little girl, but this one works.  When I first saw it I fell in love with it.  A very sophisticated look for both the romper and the dress.  A perfect “picture” twin choice.

Please Let Me Be Myself

posted by Sandra @ 14:44 PM
April 6, 2011

Have you ever had a parent say to you?  My little Johnny can to this, can your Susie?  Don’t fall into this trap.  Every baby is special and different in his/her own way.  Please don’t ever compare your child to another.  Each baby develops at different times and rates.  If you have any questions about your baby’s development, the best person to ask is your pediatrician.

Melissa Parsons, MD, a pediatrician at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus give us some guidelines to go by.

At 12 months most babies have tripled their birth weight and are pulling themselves up trying to stand.  They are crawling and may be able to walk with help.

Most toddlers at 15 months are walking, playing interactive games like patty-cake or rolling a ball back and forth.  They are also beginning to talk.  Simple “one word” words.  NO is one of the first.  DaDa, Mama are great to hear.

At 18 months, most toddlers can run.

At 24 months (forget about all that stuff you have heard about the2′s) a baby is approximately half of their adult height.  This is the time that they are refining their motor skills.  This is also the time when they are putting together two word sentences.  Like: “me go”, “more milk”, “me up”.   They already know about NO.

The most important thing to remember is that each child is different.  If there is an older child in the family, you can expect your baby to pick-up things from watching him/her.

Your baby is precious, and special in his/her own right.  They are one of a kind, the newest of new, the best of both of its parents. The most precious gift that we are ever given.

Blankets for Summer

posted by Sandra @ 10:41 AM
March 25, 2011

Just because it’s hot outside, baby still needs a blanket.  The baby blanket should be light.

Remember how when you rest or don’t move for awhile, it always seem to get cooler?  This is because you are not using much energy and this is the same for baby, especially a new baby.  Most of us have air conditioning in our homes, thus providing our homes with a constant temperature.  This makes it easy to decide how to dress baby.  Don’t get carried away, just use a light weight blanket.  Like a soft cotton or maybe a knit blanket.  You know, like what we used to call a receiving blanket back in the old days.  Today it is called a swaddling blanket.  Baby will sleep better if he/she is not to hot or to cool.

Onesie

Manufacturers have many names for baby clothing.  One that has them all beat is the “one-piece”.

Just a few of the names are: onesie, one-piece, all in one, romper, bubble, sleeper, bodysuit.  The name  “onesie” is the trademarked one-piece undershirt available through Gerber.  After saying this, everyone has onesies and they come in many different forms.  Most of them are made of cotton fabrics and many are knits.  Which one you choose is up to you and your style of fashions.  There is one big advantage in the style of  baby clothes, in that it keeps baby covered.  separation in the middle.  There are many cute designs to choose from for boys and girls.  And just about any color.  They are also one of the less expensive items of clothing for babies.  Spring and summer is a great time for this style of clothing.  You can always add pants or a jacket if the weather turns cool.

Colors

posted by Sandra @ 12:57 PM
January 26, 2011

The word “Color”.  What does it say?  Well it depends on how it is being used.  Like maybe who is wearing the color.  For babies sometime color can tell you the gender of the baby.  Back to the old color chart:  Blue say baby boy.  Pink says baby girl.

In today’s world this is not always the way.  Baby clothes are being manufactured in just about every color there is.  Of course, some colors look better on baby than other colors.  On a newborn baby bright colors can sometimes be over powering.  So maybe this is the time for “blue for baby boy and pink for baby girl”.  There will be many days in the future for the bright and wild colors.  Don’t get me wrong.  I love all of the new and different colors.  More and more baby clothes are being manufactured in the same styles and colors that grown-up clothes are.  Is this good or bad?  You will have to be the judge.  Because you choose the clothes that you put on your baby.

It’s That Time of the Year

posted by Sandra @ 15:56 PM
December 29, 2010

It’s the time of the year to think back.  We wonder, have I been the good person that I hope I am?  Have I spent my days doing the right thing?  Well time will tell.

It is my hope that in this blog I have been able to help you in some way.  Be it in choosing the right baby clothes, or baby gifts, and baby products.  Or maybe show you where you can find the information that you need and want.  I hope that I have written in a way, that not only is informational, but fun to read too.  When my children were growing up there was not all the information on the blogs and internet, in fact, the blogs were not a thing.  The internet was a beginning thing.  I remember telling my husband that we needed to get a computer.  That it was the coming thing and that our boys needed to have access to this new thing.  When I look back at that,  well “we’ve come a long way baby”, as the saying goes.

I did have a very good friend that I talked to often.  See, her youngest was a year older than my oldest.  She had already seen what I was going through.  We lived across town from one another, but thank the Lord for the telephone.  This too was not like we have today.

If I have helped or touched just one person by writing this blog this year, my time has been well spent.  I look forward to the coming days and hope to continue with good information for each of you.  Some of you are preparing for a new baby in your family and some of you are well down the road with your children.  A new baby is just about the best thing we are given.  It is the “beginning” that is our responsibility to help this precious gift to grow up up to be a secure, happy, productive  and loving and giving adult.

So, I wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year and all of your family.   Sandra

They Say

posted by Sandra @ 15:28 PM
December 27, 2010

When you are having a baby or are a new mother, everyone has some advice.  Friends, grandparents, aunts and everybody.  A new baby is a big event in all of our lives and good advice can come from all directions.  Everyone means well.

The important thing is for you to figure out what is good and what is bad advice.  Or maybe if it is outdated.  Things that we were told or did years back may not be what is best for today.  Times have changed and so has the ways of doing things.  Some for the best and maybe some not so.  Friends and family mean well, but maybe as in the way that we have not always had seat belts and baby car seats in our cars.  I tell my children all the time, “that it is a miracle that they are alive, as everything I did back then is now wrong in today’s world”.  We did the best that we could with the information that we had then and that is as it should be today.  Your pediatrician can be the best source of information.  Parenting magazines can also have good information.  Even you mother or mother-in-law (remember she raised your husband and he is OK).  So, keep an open mind, listen to others and weed out the bad and keep the good.
